Blob Opera is an innovative music game allowing everyone to compose operatic pieces of music. This application was created by David Li together with Google Arts & Culture. It uses machine learning algorithms, which were trained with samples of real opera voices. There is no need to have any experience in singing and music to create interesting musical performances.
In Blob Opera, there are bright blobs, which behave as a group of opera performers. Just by moving them on the screen, it is possible to change their tones and vowels. The voices of these blobs merge automatically, providing a possibility to create harmonies with the help of easy-to-use mouse movements. Blob Opera appeared in December 2020 and allows you to play with this game in your browser in a fun way.
How to Play
Playing Blob Opera is very simple, as you require just a mouse. Choose a blob and drag it either upwards or downwards to alter its pitch. When you pull it upwards or downwards, it will give rise to distinct pitches.
You can also drag the blob leftwards or rightwards to change its vowel. Different positions will produce harmonics among the singers. This has been made possible due to the machine learning algorithm that ensures compatibility among the voices.
Once satisfied with your performance, click on the record button to save it. It is now easy to share your creation with your friends. There is also an option for festive mode for people who want their performance to have a special touch.
