OpenGuessr is a free geography trivia game that tests your ability to recognize the location. You will find yourself in the middle of a street-level panorama, where you need to observe the surroundings and try to figure out the location.

You need to discover the continent, country, city, and even the particular location you are at.

The game is not limited to speed; it requires good observation skills and deep knowledge of geography.

Road signs, languages, architecture, landscapes, road markings, vegetation, and soil colors may be helpful in finding your location. Choose various maps according to your experience level. When you are just starting to play this game, choose such famous places as capitals and well-known landmarks.

How to Play

Start at a random location in OpenGuessr. Analyze your surroundings and try to find some clues that will help you determine the location. You are allowed to explore the surroundings, observe the buildings, roads, signs, mountains, vegetation, and other details of your location.

After you formulate an idea of the location, use the map to make your guess. Click the Guess button to find out how far you were from the correct location. The closer you are to the actual location, the more points you will get.

You can choose between several maps that are available in the game. For beginners, you may pick the maps that include the Capital Cities or Famous Places. More experienced players can try the World map or individual country maps. In addition, the OpenGuessr game offers some multiplayer modes like 1v1 Duels. Some challenges can include additional requirements like no movement or grayscale viewing, which makes players use smaller hints to find the locations.
